Here's a dota pic.. tho probably not many will recognise it.

Those stalked blue eyes are called remote mines.
When planted, they give vision of an area and last for 8 mins.
It's a remotely detonated mine does quite alot of damage when bunched like flowers, mp consumption is also high too.
So when the team pushes ahead into the enemy base with their creep wave, i stay out of their radar and place mines where i think the opposing team will walk past. (usually along the path of the AI's creep wave)
And when the team has pushed enough and decide to retreat due to a counterpush from the other side.. I would be far away regaining mp while leaving behind a mine trap.
if there are enough opposing heroes nearby, detonation follows and a counterpush is stopped, hopefully then the rest of the team can re-push again.
