that high school reunion

So over the weekend there was this reunion dinner of sorts that took place at a bar/grill restaurant in the science park area.

it was ok.. it was alright.. i was entertained.
food was alright. lighting was slightly dark.
alot of my class people turned up, which was not surprising somehow.. so that was a plus. meeting them was definitely a plus.
another plus was some other friends i got to know better in acjc.
minor plus was some teachers appeared.. but not the form teacher.. that would have been nice and given the evening some focus in the class.. guess not.

events that occured was some simple slide shows (slightly skewed in content), a handful of videos. sooo.. not much old times discussed.. but we did talk a bit. i was content in observing.
ended up with a mass singing of the school song (much feeling there as you could have imagined) a slice of cake and a class photo.

for the benefit of those who did not turn up, i will summarise.
its was interesting to meet some people you have not met since jc (if they went acjc)
and slightly less interesting to meet some of them you have not met since secondary school, such implying that they went elsewhere.

im implying that for me, the feeling and connection is mostly stronger with the friends that went over across the road to acjc.
there are exceptions of course, some people i just do not have feelings for.
perhaps its the culture in the jc, that shared experiences of growing up and chilling out. the jc times was perhaps the time i looked beyond disliking the teachers that
seemed to be homework and punishment dishing ministry ninjas and started to see beyond and behind the factors that made them so. the country's almost religious pursuit of rankings.

teachers met in jc were more like friends. (not all of them, as len will probably tell you stories of)
and most likely they were the ones who helped shaped or unshaped characters and personalities. and it is during these times that we chill out with our friends and class people, get to know them better. the classmates that went elsewhere after the secondary purge, its just different now, sure some of them stay true to their basic element with some extras along the way. thats great. but.. you did not share the same awesome experiences with me when

- leading the school cheer for waterpolo. derrick, edwin and me.. ah yes.. the infamous cheer.
the anticheer. .. ie the jeer. if memory serves correct.. we set a precedent. its now good sportsmanship to jeer. just look at derrick and his dota games.

- finishing school to go play streetfigher ex & (insert game here) with the gaming crew.

- climbing over the school fence at night. its dark, rusty and sharp.

- praystation + selling ice cream = ftw

- arranging school chairs.............. urrrggghhh......... (ok maybe not so awesome)

and perhaps other stories to tell.

or maybe im just lazy and do not want to know them again.

or its just that coincidental unstatistical mix of the right people at the right time doing the wrong things

so in essence, the gathering only just emphasized how i prefer this group instead. sure.. its less in number. and on some level probably more dysfunctional. but theres no other group of people i rather feed a perfect on streetfighter or edgehog me off final destination for now.
