Video Game Music on the Organ

youtube video - VGM on organ

wow.. its really neat.
not sure if anyone will recognise anything .. but...

will the esplanade ever host an orchestra doing music from games i wonder.

(nice background music that turns annoying after infinite loops)

theres already a strong fan base in singapore of the various videogames out there. both new and veteran gamers.

or maybe its just me and wanting to hear the MGS and Zelda themes.. live

In order for the Esplanade to stage videogame music, they first have to regularly stage hollywood music.

Everyone already knows how snobby classical musicians are, and most of them probably think hollywood music and videogame music is aesthetically rubbish, and essentially suffers from pre-mature ejaculation because it keeps climaxing in short periods of time. (This is inevitable as the music is secondary to the film, and you cant have a 25 minute piece of music along with the movie unless its very very well written.)

There are also license fees to think about. If i am not wrong, it costs about USD100k in licenses to put up a concert for Hans Zimmer's music (Thats the dude who composed music for prince of egypt), and well... the suits that run the esplanade (whom most claim have no musical training and are out to impress people by attending cultural events - this one i have no idea whether or not its true) arent gonna spend that kind of money on what they consider trash.
